Creative tasks

Creative tasks

Most of the creative tasks like video editing, photo editing, audio editing, movie making, animation, architectural jobs, mechanical engineering and other creative jobs require a machine fitted with more than usual hardware. All of the softwares that you professionals use have added hardware requirements, and you’ll have to be aware of that a ordinary PC can only get the task done at first, once huge amounts of data is loaded on the machine, it’ll become a liability for you.

What specifications should you look for?

Starting with the processor first, it has to be at-least Intel Core i5 chip, if budget is not a bar, then choose Intel core i7 chip, or AMD Ryzen 1700 processor is also a great choice at a much cheaper price tag. A RAM of 4-8GB will easily handle variety of tasks without breaking a sweat. Make sure that the machine also features either SATA SSD or PCIe SSD storage. Both the storage options are costly compared to a conventional HDD, but will make your PC significantly faster. You can get a less storage space SSD just for the purpose of booting windows into it, for other storage tasks; get a regular hard-drive or HDD. Get at-least 1TB of hard drive (HDD) as your files will occupy lots of space in the drive. Although all the processors are integrated with in-built graphics, I would recommend to all those who are involved in graphic intensive task to select a machine that comes with dedicated graphics; other jobs usually don’t require much of video memory.

These PCs will also handle most of the gaming; however we don’t recommend it for gaming as there is a separate section for it listed below.

Hardcore Gamers

This category only consists of those laptops which are specifically made for high-end gamers. Who are those high end gamers? Well, the people who play games like Battlefield 1, GTA 5, Unchartered, Dishonoured 2, Titanfall 2, Watch Dogs 2, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and other similar games like these. Although an Intel core i5 integrated laptop can handle such games, but we don’t recommend you playing them on an i5 PC. The laptop will heat up too much and over a period of time it will annihilate the hardware. Also, the cooling mechanism on a gaming laptop is dedicatedly made for managing these high temperatures which a regular laptop couldn’t manage at all.

What are the minimum specifications a hardcore gaming laptop should always have?

Processor is the most important part of any PC, it’s the core and it has to the best available in market. Buy a PC integrated with Intel Core i7 processor, it could be of 5th, 6th or 7th generation depending on your budget. All these generations pack some special technologies like hyper-threading, turbo boost technology and much more, so any one of them would work great. However, if possible then go for the latest generation processor. AMD has announced a latest series of processor named as Ryzen lately which is a great alternative for Intel core i7 chip. The processor offers similar performance at a much cheaper price. How cheap? Top end AMD Ryzen chip is priced about one-third of Intel’s best i7 chip. However, it’ll take little time for these laptops to be available with Ryzen processors.

Apart from processor, go for either 8GB or 16GB of RAM coupled with 256GB SATA SSD or PCIe SSD and with at least 1TB of Storage. Graphics unit is one of the most important division in a gaming PC, and you simply can’t rely on the integrated graphics. A dedicated graphics is the only answer to your graphics issue. You can choose a machine with 2GB Nvidia GTX 1050 or above video memory and it will perform fine in all types of games. Make sure the laptop features all the latest ports and connectivity options available in market, and in appropriate number.

Regular Machine

Laptops in general are made for regular use, whether used in workplace or home; most people use them for a bunch of tasks. These tasks could include writing text, working on excel data, making presentations, watching movies, listening to music, using in school or college, or for doing any daily task. And this is the most crammed up laptop market, its filled with lots of different products. Tons of options with various specifications are available in limitless designs to choose from. On the basis of your own preference you can select the best design which suits you, most of the specifications will remain the same. However, there are a couple of points that I want to draw your attention on.

First, don’t spend too much money. As these machines won’t be used for any of the tasks mentioned in above articles. Cross the 35K bar only if you’re looking for a machine that could handle entry level gaming and some of the power intensive software. Otherwise get a stylish decent spec machine and you’re done.

I would recommend not crossing the 30K price bracket.
