Panasonic P31 with Gesture unlock, POP-I video player, Teased for March launch

For a while Panasonic India has been teasing the brand new “Mid-range P31 Handset” via Facebook page and  has also sent a teaser image to media,which it said “launching soon.” The first teaser touted the Panasonic P31′s ‘gesture play’ unlock feature. It was followed up with another teaser talking about a ‘Pop-I’ video player. The handset will formally launch in Indian market this month. In the meantime, the alleged specifications of Panasonic P31 have been leaked all over the place. For now, there are no indications of the pricing of the smartphone.

According to a report by AndroidOS, Panasonic India also uploaded a teaser video on YouTube, which was subsequently removed, which allegedly revealed features and specifications of the said device. As per the report, the P31 will run Android (version has not been specified) and could feature a 5-inch display ,a 1.3GHz quad-core processor (manufacturer unspecified). On the camera front, the phone is expected to have 8-mp rear and a 2-mp front camera. There are no details on the storage capacity of the phone. On the connectivity front, the P31 is said to support 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity. There are no details on the battery,Nor are the dimensions of the device unveiled.

Coming back to the official teaser images from the Panasonic India Facebook page, we see one of the highlights of the P31 is its ‘gesture play’ feature, which will allow the user to ‘draw to unlock’ the device. The second teaser  talking about the ‘Pop-I player’ on the Panasonic P31, details a “multi-tasking video application”. Additionally,Both teasers show off ‘app partners’, listed as Evernote- note taking app, India Today- news app, Hungama- music app, Readwhere- magazine app, Sony LIV- Sony television app and the Opera Mini Browser. As of now, company hasn’t revealed the price of P31; however, it is expected to be priced under Rs. 10,000. The exact release date, however, is yet to be confirmed.During October last year the firm launched T31, a budget smartphone running Android 4.2, for Rs. 7,990
