Rumours of Xiaomi manufacturing its in-house made processor are surfacing online for a couple of weeks now. Chinese smartphone manufacturer was using processor manufactured by Qualcomm or Mediatek so far, however, the latest information suggest that sooner Xiaomi’s upcoming smartphone Mi 5C will incorporate the Pinecone based SoC. As of now the information about Pinecone chip is limited to 28-nanometer based on Cortex A53 architecture. But let’s just talk about the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 5C for now.
Adding on the rumour, there are live images of smartphone that suggest that the device will not have any physical home button, unlike the previously announce Mi handsets. Apart from the home button, the leaks also suggest that Mi 5C will have a left side camera placement, which was on the other side earlier.
Talking about the specification, Xiaomi Mi 5C will boast a 5.5-inch display. It will be powered by a 28nm Pinecone V670 octa-core chip based on Cortex A53 architecture coupled with Mali T860 MP4 graphics. It will have 3GB of RAM along with 64GB of internal storage. As for optics, Mi 5C will sport a 12MP Omnivision 12870 rear camera, whereas on from it will feature an 8MP selfie camera.
The latest Xiaomi Mi 5C will house a 4500mAh battery, and the leaks suggest that the smartphone will be priced at around ¥1499, which is roughly Rs.14,636. Xiaomi has not announced any details about the launch, but the leaks mention that the smartphone could be announced anytime soon in March.
