Brainwavz launched “Alpha” pair of earphones in India. The earphones that come in a “Y shaped” cord design and are available in black colour only. They may look low-cost from the initial manifestation because of their packaging and overall look. However, one could easily feel the difference by the sound quality they offer.

Brainwavz, the Hong Kong based brand name, is introducing some serious quality headphones lately in India. The Alpha pair of earphones, which are priced at Rs. 1799/- in India can be purchased at a much cheaper price via Amazon. They come in a featherweight plastic packaging with 3 pairs of extra eartips. Out of which, one is a comply ear-tip that gives you snug fit in ears. Well, it’s good that Brainwavz supply comply eartips with its entry level earphones as well.

Brainwavz Alpha Earphones

Inside the box, you have earphones, warranty card and 4 pair of eartips including the one on outfitted on the earphones. The design of the earphones is a small L-shaped jack that has flimsy plastic cable attached to it which feels fragile. The quality of wire used in the earphones is soft and easily gets tangled kept inside the handbag. The length of the wire used in the earphones is good which makes it a complimenting accessory for your PC. On the other hand, the earphones do not have an in-line mic attached to wire, which makes it difficult as you can’t use them with your smartphone for calling purposes.

Brainwavz Alpha Earphones jack

The design of the Alpha earphones is light and flimsy. The L-shaped jack also has an average quality plastic connection to the wire. Length of the wire is good and because the wire is soft, it also makes it easier for using the earphones while jogging and other outdoor activities. I used the earphones while travelling and exercising; there is no perceptible concern regarding the quality of sound or tautness of the wire. The length of the wire is also impressive but the material used in the eartips needs a little extra attention as it’s not one of the finest available in the market. Brainwavz Alpha has a very soft fitting that does not hurt even after constantly using for 4-5 hours; you’ll not inflict any sort of problem with fitting or the ears hurting because of the design.

The Alpha earphones come with dynamic drivers and a rated impedance of 20Ohms. It has a frequency range of 15- 28000Hz, and a sensitivity measure of 110dB. The design of the earphones is good and does not trouble during marathon music sessions.

Talking about the sound quality, apart from design and packaging, the sound quality offered by the Alpha earphones is decent. The earphones offer an authentic deep bass with accurate mids and highs. The lows are also decent on the latest Brainwavz earphones. Enjoying music such as EDM, demonstrates the actual capability of the new Alpha earphones. Every music detail is precise except that minimal hiss noise in the earphones when they are only plugged in to a music device.

I tested the earphones with various smartphones and PCs to test the output variation, but there wasn’t any. The earphones deliver good quality output level in smartphones as well as on computer. The bass is punchy and the treble is sharp considering the price of the earphones. Brainwavz has always impressed us with its high quality IEM and continues the same in the new Alpha earphones. Design of the earphones might look a little cheap compared to the sound output they offer.

Final Verdict

Good sound with deep bass defines the Brainwavz Alpha pair of earphones. The earphones offer precise sound quality, highs are accurate, and mids are also correct. However, the lows are just a little above average. The earphones are priced over 1K, under which, a tons of other options available as well if we talk about the form factor only. Apart from design, if you’re looking for a pair of good quality earphones that offer accurate sound and does not hurt even after long music sessions, Brainwavz Alpha could be a good choice.
