Canon Rebel T3 / EOS 1100D Review
Canon Rebel T3 EOS 1100D
Price in India: 30000
The DSLR models provided by Pentax or Sony are way better looking than the Canon models and it has always been a traditional matter regarding the Canon entry level cameras that even though it manages to remain in the list of high end models yet they lack style. Even the recently launched upgraded versions of the old cameras of canon seem at least three years older. But the outer appearance leaves no question to be placed against the performance of the devices. The all new Canon EOS Rebel T3 answers all questions regarding quality picture shots at reasonable price.
The Canon EOS Rebel T3 provides an average performance of ISO 400 – 3200 sensitivity. The images are a bit grainy but get smoother as we go above ISO 800 softening to a large extent at around ISO 1600. You would notice some colour noise and also images with imprints of hot pixels if you try to take a snap at ISO 3200. Canon’s processing with the JPEG format image files is quite good and you would encounter with dynamic range of colours. The Canon EOS Rebel T3 provides excellent metering and exposure but the saturation and sharpness gets a bit distorted in the Standard Picture Style. You would still be able to manage with the Neutral Picture Style that works pretty fine. The 18 – 55 mm lens of the Canon EOS Rebel T3 alone provides the reason behind the extra sharpness of the images shot in Standard Picture Style setting. Even though the highlights in the out of focus images are brilliant but there always remains a purplish tinge near the edges of the frame.
The Canon EOS Rebel T3 has dimensions of 5.1 x 3.9 x 3.1 inches and it weighs about 17.5 ounces. The specifications of the device include 12.2 MP CMOS sensor (effective resolution), Digic 4 image processor version, ISO 100 – ISO 6400 sensitive range, 5 raw continuous shooting at 2 fps and 830 JPEG continuous shooting at 3 fps, Viewfinder with 95% coverage (0.87x normal magnification and 0.54x effective magnification), 1/4000 to 30 seconds shutter speed and many such features. The Canon EOS Rebel T3 boasts of 63 – zone iFCL metering, Live View, H.264 QuickTime MOV 720/25p/30p video, Mono audio, Optical image stabilization, LCD size of 2.7 inches with 230000 pixels, 1 x SDXC memory slots and a tested battery life equivalent to nearly 700 shots.
There are goods and bads attached to every gadget. Being a budget DSLR model the Canon EOS Rebel T3 produces awesome photo quality but the mediocre performance, few basic settings with no exceptional features and a confined viewfinder makes the camera all the more unimpressive to a shooter. The cameras that are available in the market in this price bracket are simply beyond the league of the Canon EOS Rebel T3 which is perfectly fine as an entry level camera. Hiking your budget a bit would leave you with plenty of options to choose a high end camera of your choice.
